- The Hazaras take up about 9% of Afghanistan's population and Pashtuns take up about 45% of the population in Afghanistan.
2) Where do Pashtuns mainly live? What language do they speak?
- The pashtuns mainly live in Afghanistan and Pakistan and speak pashto.
3) Where do Hazaras mainly live? What language do they speak?
- Most Hazaras live in Afghanistan as well and scattered in other countries and they speak a form of persian language called, Dari.
4) What effect did the Soviet Invasion of 1979 have on the Pashtun/Hazara ethnic groups?
- When the soviet invasion began, the Hazaras fought against the communist governement and succeeded in liberating most of their homeland early in the begining of the civil war and for the Pashtuns were the ones who dominated on the factions of the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan up until mid 1991.
5) From what you read, why is there a conflict between Amir and Hassan? How does what you learned explained their relationship?
- Because they are Amir was the higher class (Pashtun) and Hassan was the lower class (Hazaras) so people were always wondering why Amir would hang out with him. It explains their relationship because since they're from two totally different classes it explains the reason they were treated differently and tells why Amir's dad was able to get him out of that city.
